One traveler has sparked a heated online debate after being branded ‘rude’ for simply collecting her luggage from an airport carousel.

A passenger took to Reddit to share her shocking encounter, asking other users whether she was in the wrong after a fellow traveler called her out for bad etiquette.

The confused passenger revealed how a young college student confronted her for collecting her four bags as they arrived in the carousel, rather than ‘walking down there to pick them up.’

‘My four large bags quickly came off the carousel,’ the traveler explained in the Reddit post.

‘As I approached the carousel I grabbed my first one, then my second one, third, and fourth came down the chute quite quickly.’

But what should have been a routine baggage collection turned into an unexpected confrontation.

‘When I went to grab the fourth bag this young college girl said that I was being rude picking up my bags. She said why can’t you walk down there to pick them up. We were all standing at the same spot for five mins before my luggage came off.’

The incident has sparked a flurry of responses from fellow travelers, with many rushing to defend the woman’s actions.

‘She’s insane,’ one outrage user commented. ‘Grab your bags when you see them.’

Another suggested the complainant was simply projecting her travel stress onto others.

‘People get cranky at airports. She was just looking for something to complain about,’ they wrote.

A third user laid down what many considered the universal rule of baggage claim.

‘It’s every person for themselves. If someone is accessing their bag, and yours has not arrived, step back and let the person get their stuff.’

The consensus among travelers seemed clear – the complaining student was actually the one breaking baggage claim etiquette by crowding the area after someone else’s bags had arrived.

‘She is absolutely the rude one continuing to crowd the area after someone’s bag has arrived,’ one experienced traveler explained.

‘I try to stand a bit further away where I can still see the bags coming, but then somebody just plops down in front of me. No biggie so long as they shift when someone sees their luggage and goes to grab it!’

‘The only etiquette is that you don’t crowd the carousel if you don’t see your luggage. Only step up if you see your luggage or you want to quickly check if it’s your bag. Then clear the area once you’ve got your bags.’

The incident is the latest in a string of heated airport disputes making headlines in recent months.

Last month, a Delta passenger revealed how he was reprimanded after asking a fellow flyer to be quiet.

The frequent flyer took to Reddit to detail the shocking situation that saw him begging a woman to turn down the volume of her ‘loud’ phone call.

In a thread titled ‘Delta‘, he explained that while sitting at the Salt Lake City Sky Club Lounge, Utah, he asked the woman to use earbuds because she was disturbing others in the suite.

He said the woman was on speaker phone with what sounded like a young child.

After hearing enough of the phone call, the man stood up and begged the woman to finish the exchange through her headphones.

However, his request was met with shock as the woman gave him a slew of snarky looks.

She was stunned that anyone would ask her to quiet down and then branded the man ‘incredibly rude.’

The exasperated man asked people on the web to give him advice as he questioned if he was out of line, although many agreed he was in the right.

Last year, dozens of flight attendants revealed the rudest things they have ever experienced at the hands of plane passengers.

The duo offered workers the chance to share their industry anecdotes by asking flight attendants: ‘What’s the rudest thing a passenger has ever said/done to you!?’

The pair were then quickly inundated with disturbing stories from in-flight staff who detailed incidents ranging from passengers throwing sandwiches at them to pulling on their ponytail to get attention.
